Our story
My name is Georgina and together with my partner Dan and our two young children we run Valley View Glamping. A new, rural and unique tourism business for 2025.
We are third generation livestock farmers here in the heart of The Peak District. My Grandfather bought the farm in the early 1960s. Having grown up just 700 yards down the road, it was a dream come true for Dan and I when my father asked us to move onto the farm in 2014. In 2018 my father offered us a partnership in the family business.
We feel extremely lucky and privileged to live and work in such a breath-taking area of outstanding natural beauty that we wanted to create a small luxurious retreat tucked away in a corner of the farm overlooking the Derwent valley. The farm is a very special place for us, and we are excited to share it with you.
Location of our farm
Our working farm is situated on the edge of the Peak District National Park in the town of Darley Dale. We are 6 miles from the market town of Bakewell, famously known for its Bakewell Tart. 4 miles from the spa town of Matlock and 17 miles from the town of Buxton – the highest market town in England, famous for its natural spring water.
Darley Dale has a wealth of amenities. It has a traditional family butcher, post office, Co-op convenience store, four pubs, fish and chip shop, Indian restaurant, a Chinese take away, two cafes and a lovely children’s play park.

History of the area
Darley Dale is a town in the Derbyshire Dales. It is recorded in the domesday book as ‘Derelie’ and is made up of the smaller settlements of Churchtown, South Darley, Two Dales, Northwood and Darley Hillside. Valley View Glamping is situated on Darley Hillside.
Sir Joseph Whitworth (an engineer) and his wife were responsible for much of the development of Darley Dale. Their legacy remains an important part of the community today in The Whitworth Institute and The Whitworth Hospital.
Darley Dale grew in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries due to the lead mining, quarrying and railway industries.
